It’s coming soon… Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Release Candidate (RC) 1 has just been made available to the public for download and upgrading. This release is based on the Gecko 1.9.1 rendering platform, which was under rigorous development for the past year. On top of that, there has been a couple of changes over the previous version. Check out some of the features below:

• * Available in more than 70 languages.
• * Improved tools for controlling your private data, including a Private Browsing Mode.
• * Better performance and stability with the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine.
• * The ability to provide Location Aware Browsing using web standards for geolocation.
• * Support for native JSON, and web worker threads.
• * Improvements to the Gecko layout engine, including speculative parsing for faster content rendering.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5 RC 1

I have just received notification to upgrade my Firefox browser to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox 3.5 b99. The code “b99″ sounds a little interesting, as this is probably the first time I have seen Mozilla come up with this codename.

This version is a preview of Firefox 3.5, the upcoming version of the Firefox web browser. It has not yet gone through a full set of quality assurance tests, and should not be considered as a release candidate. Firefox 3.5 Release Candidate is expected to be issued shortly. At that time users will be automatically upgraded to that version.

It all started with the introduction of Asus Eee PC notebook, and suddenly all other big companies follow suits to create their own version of Netbook. As you would probably realise that in most of these netbooks, the default operating system (OS) is normally Microsoft Windows XP. What about other OS platform?

Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 now offers Netbook users the support to install the latest version of Ubuntu on their lightweight device. Ubuntu developers have tested several popular netbooks in the market and separated them according to 3 Tiers:

Tier 1 Netbooks are systems that fully support the deployment of Ubuntu on their netbook. These are:

2. Asus Eee 1000
3. Asus Eee 900a
4. Asus Eee 901
5. Dell Mini 9

Tier 2 Netbooks are those that work somewhat, but have problems that may interfere with typical activities at the moment, or many smaller issues.

Not yet gone, but soon, are going to be the days where expensive Word Processor, are required to type professional documents. Introducing Zoho Writer, the most comprehensive web-based application for small businesses. Because of its integration with Google Gears, it allows the application to be run offline, even without connection to the Internet.

Offered by AventNet, Zoho Writer is a strong contender against rival traditional software makers, such as Microsoft, Corel and OpenOffice.org. Offering nearly close to 20 web-based applications, some of them are free for personal use, while others are available to be licensed for businesses. In this latest release of Zoho Writer 2.0, the enhancement is in the Menu Tab design, which streamlines the toolbar with tabbed menus that organise commands in context-based groups - which makes it look like Microsoft Office 2007 ribbon style.

Similar to a normal Word application, users can begin with a blank page or import file from other formats. The limit here is a 10MB file size. It may not have some of the advanced functionality of desktop applications, however it does provide one of the richest feature sets of any online word processor.

If you do not have a Zoho account, you can also make use of Google account to log on to Zoho, as both have integrated features to link both accounts together. I strongly encourage you to try that out. No download is required, just access the link here to try out Zoho Writer.
